  • First Year Courses

    • Semester One

      • Financial & Management Accounting

        • This course prepares students to apply accounting principles to management decision-making. Students learn the framework and basic principles of financial accounting, management accounting, cost accounting, and financial analysis. The three main approaches to costing are analyzed in depth.

      • Managerial Economics

        • This course prepares students to apply the principles of economics to business problems. Students learn the vocabulary of the economist and the scope of economic analysis: demand, supply, market structure, national income analysis, and consumption versus saving. Particular attention is paid to international trade, inflation, trade barriers and protectionism are explained.

      • Organizational Behavior & Management Process

        • This course prepares students to understand how individuals and groups can be managed to create an effective organization. Students are taught the historical evolution of management theory, systems for human resource management, the behavior and motivation of individuals, group dynamics, and corporate culture considerations. The behavioral resistance to change and work stress issues are examined.

      • Computer Application in Management

        • This course equips students to understand and manage computer automation within an organization. Students learn about the evolution of computers, the relationship between hardware and software, operating systems functions, business data processing, data communications, and computer networks. A comprehensive review of office automation systems is presented in full.

      • Business Environment

        • This course prepares students to integrate an understanding of society, government and law into their management decisions. Students learn about different types of business environments, the synthesis of economics and politics, privatization and globalization, consumer frights, corporate social responsibilities, and corporate governance. The different facets of business law are explained: contract law, company formation, capital structures, audit processes, and management remuneration.

      • Quantitative Techniques

        • This course equips students to apply analytical tools to business problems. Students learn the market research process, sampling, data grouping and analysis, and probability and distribution fundamentals. Specific attention is given to explaining hypothesis, correlation, and regression analysis.

    • Semester Two

      • Financial Management

        • This course builds on the foundation in financial management students gained in their first semester so that they can excel at applying financial analysis to business decisions. Students learn the time value of money, debt and equity valuation, trend analysis, ratio analysis, funds flow statement preparation, capital budgeting, capital structure and the cost of capital, working capital analysis, inventory management, and cash management analysis. The specific needs of international business are explained, including exchange rates, arbitrage, and management of operating exposure.

      • Human Resource Management

        • This course prepares students to excel at managing, training, and developing personnel within an organization. Students learn the history and philosophy of human resource management, the concepts and process of human resource planning, emerging trends in human resource management, job analysis, recruitment, selection, training, development, compensation, and performance appraisal. The issues of human resource management beyond the organization, including industrial relations, trade union, and work grievance procedures, are examined.

      • Management Science

        • This course prepares students to apply the principles of operations management to business activity. Students learn the methods of operations management, including linear programming, queuing theory, transportation models, game theory, decision theory, and simulation. The advantages, uncertainty, and risk of each analytical approach are presented.

      • Productions and Operations Management

        • This course prepares students to integrate operations management concepts in production decisions. Students learn to evaluate and improve production processes through forecasting, product and process design, capacity design, facility location strategy, layout design, project scheduling, inventory management, and operations planning. Just in Time (JIT) manufacturing systems, rough-cut capacity planning, and sequencing rules are examined as part of master scheduling.

  • Second Year Courses

    • Semester Three Required Classes

      • Management Information System

        • This course prepares students to recognize and manage the flow of information within an organization. Students learn about the range of information systems, managing data resources, the intersection of information systems and strategy, end user computing, electronic communication systems, business telecommunications, tactical versus strategic information systems, and enterprise information systems. Information systems are examined for how they help management make decisions and how they can create a corporate strategic advantage. This course requires a short paper (2-4 pages).

      • Strategic Management

        • This course prepares students to create strategic advantage for an organization using a discipline approach toward strategic planning and implementation. Students learn about the strategic planning process, the concepts of goals, objectives, mission, and vision, different approaches toward strategy, strategy formulation, and strategic evaluation. Specific models for strategy formulation include bench marking, the use of McKinsey's 7S framework, SWOT analysis, and value chain analysis. This course requires a short paper (2-4 pages).

      • Environmental Management

        • This course prepares students to make management decisions that incorporate environmental issues and impact. Students learn about the principles of sustainable development, the political and legal aspects of environmental management, how to conduct an environmental impact assessment, environmental standards, the ethics of the environment, WTO environmental issues, and the challenges of waste management. Emphasis is placed on the six critical skills needed to be a successful environmental professional in the global "green" economy. This course requires a short paper (2-4 pages).

      • Total Quality Management

        • This course prepares students to identify and deliver total quality in their products and services. Students learn about total quality management (TQM) concepts and philosophies, the concept of quality circles, the importance of six sigma, the roles of TQM leaders, the perception of quality in customer satisfaction, and performance measures. Some of the TQM tools and techniques taught include pareto and process flow diagrams, check sheets and histograms, quality function deployment, the design of experiments and control charts, quality management systems and bench marking. This course requires a short paper (2-4 pages).

      • Dissertation

        • This capstone course integrates concepts from all prior courses in the program. The dissertation focuses on a major functional area of management in an organization the student selects. The final paper includes an introduction, executive summary, industry information, company information, functional area information (including theory and practical application), and general summary and findings.
